In an e-mail sent to her colleagues and made available to APE-MPE, Roberta Metzola said that “the next two and a half years will be crucial for the European Parliament and for the European venture. The political model we have developed in Europe has led to our continent of democracy, prosperity and equality, but if we want to take Europe to the level that our people deserve, we must now unite to forge something even stronger – something that motivates a more skeptical public to believe again in Europe”. He emphasized the need to ensure that citizens took joint action “as Europe faces hybrid attacks on its borders”, and emphasized the importance of tackling the climate crisis, job creation, innovation and the protection of freedoms.
