European smartphone market has largely recovered from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic

Experts of the analytical company Counterpoint Research have summed up the results of the third quarter in the European smartphone market. It has largely recovered from the fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic, they said, although sales are currently being affected by an ongoing chip shortage. Sales in the third quarter of 2021 compared to the same period last year decreased by 1%, and compared to the second quarter of 2021 – by 4%.

The market leader is Samsung, but its positions have been somewhat shaken, as in quarterly terms sales decreased by 6%, and in annual terms – by 16%, which led to a decrease in the share of the South Korean manufacturer from 35.8% to 30.4%.

In second place is Xiaomi. She increased deliveries by 51% over the year. This led to an increase in its share from 15.5% to 23.6%.

Next comes Apple. Having increased supplies in annual terms by 24%, it was able to occupy 22.1% of the market. A year ago, Apple’s share was 17.6%.
