The European Union has sent Ukraine 1 billion euros in financial aid for its budget and to help the country face the financial consequences of the Russian invasion, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal said on Monday.
“The 1 billion euros are part of a large package of support for Ukraine… totaling 9 billion euros. The funds will help fund priority budget needs,” Shmygal wrote on the messaging app Telegram.
He said that the first installment, worth 500 million euros, is already in the Ukrainian central bank’s account, while the rest is due to arrive on Tuesday (2).
