Eurozone: Unemployment fell to 7.3% in October

The unemployment rate fell to 7.3% in October from 7.4% in September, according to data from the European Union’s statistical office, Eurostat.

The figures are in line with economists’ estimates.

The number of people registered as unemployed in the eurozone fell by 64,000 in October compared to the previous month, to 12 million.

Youth unemployment fell to 15.9% in October from 16.1% in September.

Those who are classified as unemployed do not include those who are not free to look for work, such as parents who have to take care of children.

The figures also do not include workers in unemployment support programs.
