Expectations about details of the transition of government in the economy pack the week

The week starts with great expectations about more details of the transition of governments in the economy.

The president-elect, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), already recovered from surgery on his larynx, landed in Brasília last Sunday night (27) accompanied by Fernando Haddad (PT), former mayor of São Paulo and the main name quoted to the Ministry of Finance.

Amidst the scheduled meetings with the mayors of the House and Senate, Arthur Lira (Progressives) and Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD), respectively, in addition to other parliamentarians, it is expected that the new government will provide more information on the Transition PEC, as well called the PEC of the Explosion, and perhaps about who will actually be the Minister of Finance.

Last Friday, Haddad participated in the lunch with bankers organized by Febraban. His speech was considered generic and did not bring details about the Lula government’s plans to pay the Auxílio Brasil, which will be renamed Bolsa Família from next year, in R$ 600.

For critics, the assessment was that Haddad’s lack of preparation for the event reflects how a possible management of the PT in the economic portfolio would be. Supporters, on the other hand, say that the former mayor did what he could, since he is not yet finance minister, is not on top of the discussions and was scheduled for the lunch at the last minute.

The Brazilian Stock Exchange — which rose on Thursday with the possible double of Haddad with Pérsio Arida, one of the fathers of the Real Plan — returned the gains on Friday with the lack of definitions.

Over the weekend, the event promoted by the Esfera group, in Guarujá (SP), featured Floriano Pesaro (PSDB), executive coordinator of Lula’s transition team. He justified the impasses in Brasilia by saying that “we are changing the CEO of the company called Brasil”. Emídio de Souza, PT state deputy, added that until a company works well, it takes time.

The businessmen, in response, spoke about the dialogue between the public and private sectors, and the importance of uniting a divided country to advance on agendas that can lead to economic growth.

In this Monday’s episode (28), the CNN Money it discusses the possible ways for the economy to advance amid uncertainties, and the expectations that the week holds.

Presented by Thais Heredia and Priscila Yazbek, the CNN Money it presents a balance of the news subjects that influence markets, finances and the direction of society and the dynamics of power in Brazil and in the world.
