Extratropical cyclone wreaks havoc on the coast of São Paulo

The passage of an extratropical cyclone has wreaked havoc on the coast of São Paulo in recent days. The meteorological phenomenon – which formed near Santa Catarina – advanced rapidly across the country.

On social media, the City of São Sebastião released a video showing the structure of the Japanese Culture Festival completely destroyed. The event, which was to take place this weekend, has been cancelled. See the images below:

According to the meteorology company MetSul, the region of São Sebastião and Ilhabela was one of the most punished by the wind, with wind gusts of 113 km/h. The video below shows the roof of a gas station collapsed on Thursday night (11):

In a note, the Municipality of Ilhabela reported that the Civil Defense of the municipality has dealt with 15 occurrences so far related to heavy rains and the gale that hit the coast of São Paulo. None of the incidents had casualties.

Also according to the city hall, the Basic Health Unit (BHU) Alto da Barra Velha suffered damage and some calls were directed to UBS Barra Velha.
