Facebook deleted anti-vaccine accounts in Germany

Facebook, the giant of social networking sites, announced tonight that it has deleted accounts of the anti-vaccination movement in Germany, which opposes restrictions on halting the Covid-19 pandemic.

The measure, ten days before the German parliamentary elections, also applies to the movement’s Instagram accounts.

The company explained that members of the Querdenker (“free-thinking”) movement posted fake health news, hate speech, and incited violence. He even pointed out that the messages on these accounts claimed that “The German government’s restrictions on Covid-19 are part of a larger plan to deprive citizens of their freedoms and fundamental rights.».

This movement organizes demonstrations against the restrictive measures, gathering many thousands of people in some of them.
