One of the biggest criminals in Rio Grande do Sul was killed inside the Canoas State Penitentiary (PECAN) this Saturday (23). Jackson Peixoto Rodrigues, ‘Nego Jackson’, was shot seven times inside the cell where he was held.
According to the police, another detainee used a small window in the door to fire the shots. The main suspicion is that a drone took the weapon to the location.
According to the investigation of the CNN prisoners from different factions were in the same gallery, but in different cells and with iron doors. A small window in the door was used by a criminal known as “Sapo” to carry out the shots.
Informally, a source who has access to PECAN 3 said that the agents made a “call” to count the prisoners and it was at this moment that the detainee went out into the gallery corridor. Instead of returning after answering “present”, he opened the window where Jackson was and shot several times.
Two inmates at the Canoas penitentiary were identified as the killers. “Nego Jackson” had an extensive police record and was being investigated for approximately 30 homicides involving cruelty.
He became the number 1 fugitive from the state of Rio Grande do Sul, when he was captured in Paraguay, in 2017.
The Civil Police are investigating how the weapon entered the prison and whether prison officers were involved. Five employees were dismissed, including the director of the prison complex.
