Father’s Day should generate R$ 7.28 billion this year, points out CNC

Father’s Day should generate R$ 7.28 billion this year, according to a survey released this Tuesday (9) by the National Confederation of Commerce in Goods, Services and Tourism (CNC).

The result reflects an increase of 5.3% in relation to the R$ 6.99 billion of last year. If the projection is confirmed, it will be the best year since 2015, when the sales volume reached R$ 7.43 billion.

Despite inflation, the evolution in numbers, according to the CNC, is projected due to the release of resources such as the extraordinary withdrawal of the FGTS, the anticipation of the 13th salary of INSS retirees and pensioners and the expansion of payments and beneficiaries of the Aid Brazil.

Another factor that puts optimism on the date, the fourth most important for the national retail trade, is the increase in movement on the streets with the end of restrictions against Covid-19.

According to the confederation, based on data from Google, the circulation of consumers in consumer establishments is 1.7% above the period before the beginning of the pandemic.

To welcome customers, the trade projects 18,500 temporary employees, the highest number since 2014, which totaled 20,300. The average salary for these jobs is £1,638.

The main sectors that should hire are hypermarkets and supermarkets, with 8,200 vacancies, and clothing, with 7,800.

Gift sales should be led by the clothing, footwear and accessories segment, with R$ 3.18 billion in revenue. Household appliances and electronics come in second place, with R$ 1.24 billion, followed by perfumery and cosmetics stores, with R$ 1.07 billion.

CNC points out that inflation has driven up the price of 12 of the 13 gifts monitored in the Father’s Day basket of goods and services, which will be 8.6% more expensive than in 2021, the biggest change since 2016 (also 8.6 %).

The main increases were registered by clothing (21.9%), sneakers (18.2%) and alcoholic beverages (17%). Only computers fell (-2.4%).

The survey also analyzed the sales projection by states. São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro should account for 51.3% of the financial transactions, with R$ 2.33 billion, R$ 662.7 million and R$ 612.5 million, respectively.

The states that should register the greatest real increase in business in relation to Father’s Day last year are Ceará (17.2%), Espírito Santo (12.2%) and Rio Grande do Sul (11%).
