“It is quite likely that inflation is close to peaking, or has already peaked,” Boston Fed President Susan Collins said on Monday, according to Reuters.
“The credibility of the Fed is a key part of why medium- and long-term inflation expectations remain well anchored.”
“It’s part of the reason we have to move quickly on rates, to maintain that credibility.”
“My outlook is for much slower growth in 2022.”
“We will also have slower economic growth next year.”
“That’s part of what’s needed to bring inflation back down, as well as a modest rise in unemployment, but there are a lot of uncertainties.”
The Dollar Index was last up 0.42% on the day at 113.50 following these comments.
