Companies directly controlled by the Union had a net profit of BRL 187.7 billion in 2021, against BRL 60.6 billion recorded in the previous year, the Ministry of Economy reported this Friday (1st), noting that the amount is the biggest since 2008.
Last year, according to a report from the ministry, state-owned companies paid R$101 billion in dividends and interest on equity, of which R$43 billion to the federal government. The number includes transfers related to profit from previous years and anticipation on account of the 2021 result.
Profit for the year was mostly generated by Petrobras, the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), Banco do Brasil, Caixa Econômica Federal and Eletrobras, representing 98% of the total.
Consolidated data show that federal state-owned companies invested R$ 57.5 billion in 2021. Of the total, 90.3% were in the oil and gas sector.
In total, the assets of the 47 companies totaled BRL 5.482 trillion in 2021. The total revenue was BRL 999.8 billion.
