Festival Mix Brasil brings films, shows and shows to the capital of São Paulo; know more

The 30th edition of Festival Mix Brazil , the biggest cultural event dedicated to diversity in Latin America, which takes place between November 9th and 20th, in São Paulo, brings 119 films from 35 countries, six new theatrical shows and musical performances. In addition, it will honor the artist Linn da Quebrada with the Icon Mix award.

The event will take place in several cultural spaces in São Paulo: CineSesc, Espaço Itaú Augusta – Rooms 3 and 4; São Paulo Cultural Center – Salas Lima Barreto and Paulo Emilio; Circuito Spcine rooms; MIS – Museum of Image and Sound of São Paulo; Sérgio Cardoso Theater; and Cultural Center for Diversity.

The program is free, except for the sessions at Espaço Itaú Augusta, for which a single price of R$ 20 per ticket will be charged. But the event can also be followed outside São Paulo online and free of charge from November 14th.

Among the international film productions shown at the festival are: “Close” , winner of the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival and Belgium’s Oscar nominee; “Something You Said Last Night” winner in San Sebastian; “Nelly & Nadine” winner of the Teddy Award for Best Documentary in Berlin; “Girl Picture” a Sundance award-winning Finnish Oscar nominee 2023; “Turquoise Tunic” Un Certain Regard Award at the Cannes Film Festival; “Girl Picture” audience award winner at Sundance; “Fire-wisp” ; among others.

Among the national exhibitions are: “Rule 34” winner of the Golden Leopard at the Locarno Festival; “Uýra – The Reclaim of the Forest” elected by the public as the best documentary on Frameline “The Clown’s Daughter” by Pedro Diogenes, best performance award at Cine Ceará; and more.

Within the theater, some of the shows presented are: the very traditional “Gong Show” in which detached filmmakers present their videos for the public to judge; “Eve’s Womb” which presents a clipping about a dystopian environment, also known as nowhere, where dissident bodies converge ideas; and more.

The event also features literary panels, bringing together five queer authors from all over Brazil and a concert by singer Assucena.

In its 30th edition, Festival Mix now includes XR experiences of extended realities in the program.

The experience options are: the “Flâneur Project #Experiment nº1” that takes the public to stroll through the center of the city of São Paulo; “Post-Human Parenting in Hybrid Reality”, a transmedia experience that invites couples or singles to ‘procreate’ digitally; “Lips” invites the audience to enter a female body to awaken their desire; and “No Vapor”, in a foggy room to explore sexuality.
