The new InfoGripe bulletin, released by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) this Wednesday (21), draws attention to the recent increase in cases of influenza A. According to the research coordinator, Marcelo Gomes, the disease, which caused an outbreak in some parts of the country last year, it is appearing again in the city of São Paulo.
The capital of São Paulo has registered an increase in patients with Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), especially in children and adolescents. Gomes points out that the high may be associated with the flu. “Therefore, we cannot forget about the vaccine to have the best possible protection”, advises the researcher.
In the rest of the country, Fiocruz observes a drop in SARS patients, both in the long-term (last six weeks) and short-term (last three weeks) trend. The data refer to the week between September 11 and 17.
Nationally, Covid-19 still leads the cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, with 55.8%. Then appear cases of influenza A (9.7%), respiratory syncytial virus (8.6%) and influenza B (0.8%). Regarding deaths, the coronavirus is the cause of 90.3%.
Of the 27 federative units, only Amapá registers growth in the long-term trend. In the capitals, this is the scenario in Florianópolis (SC), Fortaleza (CE), Macapá (AP), in addition to the pilot plan and surroundings of Brasília.
In practically all age groups, the InfoGripe bulletin reports a decline or stability in SARS cases, with the national curve below the level of April this year, the lowest since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.
