Firefighters are still looking for 3 missing people in Petropolis

Firefighters are still looking for three missing people in the rubble of landslides in Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro. So far, one person has been rescued alive and 5 bodies have been found after Sunday’s storm (20). The searches are concentrated on Rua Washington Luiz, in the city center, where a house collapsed after a landslide.

There are still at least two people missing and more than 600 homeless as of last month.

According to the Civil Defense of Rio de Janeiro, more than a thousand people were left homeless after the last storm. Since Sunday, the Rio de Janeiro Fire Department has received more than 60 calls for landslides, landslides and rescues of people stranded at various points.

Thirty-four people were rescued alive by the military. So far, five victims have been found lifeless: two in Morro da Oficina, two in Rua Washington Luiz and one in Valparaiso.

Four of these bodies have been identified, but one not yet due to the advanced stage of decomposition. According to the Civil Defense, this last body could be a victim of the February 15 rains.
