A jupará –a species of mammal considered rare to be found in nature– was rescued last Thursday (26) by the Fire Department in a tree in the city of Campo Verde (MT), around 140 kilometers from Cuiabá.
During the rescue operation, the animal jumped from the tree and tried to escape, heading towards a street in the region. Even so, he was saved safely.
According to the Mato Grosso Fire Department, the mammal was placed in a transport box and taken to be released into its natural habitat.
The jupará is a small animal with a rounded head and ears, a short snout, a long and narrow tongue and a long body. According to the Brasília Zoo Foundation, the body measures 40 to 76 centimeters.
