Earlier the IDF had twice called on residents in the Hezbollah stronghold known as Dahiyeh to evacuate the areas around specific buildings ahead of imminent strikes. “At least five Israeli strikes targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut,” said the source, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media. AFP correspondents say they heard multiple explosions and saw smoke rising in one area, while a fire appeared to be burning. The Israeli military says it is “currently striking Hezbollah terrorist targets in Beirut.” He gave similar instructions to residents surrounding two other buildings in the south suburb.
