Foo Fighters release trailer for their first feature film

American rock band Foo Fighters released on Tuesday night (11), the first trailer for “Studio 666”, the group’s first fictional film. The horror-comedy stars and produces by the musicians and is set to premiere on February 25th in the US.

In the plot, Dave Grohl’s band is in the midst of recording their tenth album, “Medicine at Midnight” (released in 2021), and decides to use an old abandoned cabin as a studio.

There, they have to face writer’s block – and evil forces as well, when the group’s lead singer is possessed by a supernatural entity.

In addition to Grohl, musicians from the group Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett and Rami Jaffee, as themselves, star in the feature. Also in the cast are Will Forte (“Nebraska” and “McGruber”), Jeff Garlin (“Curb Your Enthusiam”) and singer Lionel Richie.

The screenplay is based on a story conceived by Grohl and was written by Jeff Buhler (responsible for the remake of “Cursed Cemetery”) and Rebecca Hughes. The direction is by BJ McDonnell, who has already made a film about the band Slayer.

With 28 years on the road, Foo Fighters has ten studio albums released and had already ventured onto the screen in 2013 with the documentary “Sound City”, directed by Grohl. In 2014, he also released the documentary series “Sonic Highways”, about the recordings of his eighth album.
