For Economy, removing court orders from the spending ceiling would be a disaster

The Ministry of Economy is against the proposal for a parliamentary amendment suggested by opposition senators to remove from the public spending ceiling the payment of court orders scheduled for next year.

According to reports made to CNN, the technical area of the folder considers that the payment of the amount of R$ 89 billion through extraordinary resources would be a disaster, with the risk of putting further pressure on inflation for next year.

The assessment was transmitted to political articulators at the Palácio do Planalto, who are negotiating the vote on the PEC dos Precatórios in the Federal Senate.

The parliamentary amendment, suggested in an attempt to reach an agreement for the proposal, proposes the financing of Auxílio Brasil without the need to anticipate the revision of the spending ceiling.

For technicians in the folder, the removal of the PEC dos Precatório from a rule of installment payment of judicial debts prolongs a lack of predictability for the settlement of future debts of the public power.

In the face of resistance from the Ministry of Economy, the top of the National Congress discusses alternatives to the proposal. One of them, shown by the CNN on Thursday night (18th), it would only be to promulgate points of consensus of the PEC dos Precatório, leaving the controversial points for later.

The parliamentary amendment that was being discussed in the Federal Senate was for the amount of court orders to be paid next year through extraordinary resources.

In addition to the R$64 billion for Auxílio Brasil, there would be R$25 billion left over for social security expenses.

The inclusion of the parliamentary amendment, however, would force the PEC dos Precatórios to be analyzed again by the Chamber of Deputies, the main factor of resistance at the Palácio do Planalto.

A new vote in the Legislative House would create the risk that the amount of R$400 will remain for next year.
