THE Former boxer José Adilson Maguila died at age 66 this Thursday (24). The information was confirmed by the Maguila Institute.
Maguila fought 85 times in his career, with 77 victories, and among his titles is a Boxing World Cup by the World Boxing Federation, in 1995, an entity contested at the time.
Of Maguila’s victories, 68 were by knockout.
The Sergipe native played in heavyweight for 17 years as a professional.
Maguila was diagnosed years ago with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), which would have been caused by his boxing performance, with repeated head injuries.
Between prominent fights, Maguila faced Evander Holyfield and George Foreman in his career .

On social media, boxer Ancelino Popó Freitas posted a video tribute with the boxing legend. “Rest in peace, eternal champion”, he said.
