Former Chancellor Schroeder: The West must negotiate with Putin

Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder continues to believe that his personal friendship with Russian President Vladimir Putin could be leveraged to end the war in Ukraine through negotiations. “We have cooperated with reason for many years. Maybe this could still help find a negotiated solution,” as “I don't see any other solution,” Mr. Schroeder told the German news agency. The chancellor, Schröder, and the president, Putin, were linked by a friendly relationship during the time that the German Social Democratic politician was in power.
