Former minister and MP of Ioannina of ND Antonis Fousas died.
In a statement, the Speaker of Parliament, Konstantinos Tassoulas, states:
“Compatriot Antonis Gr. Fousas, former Minister and Member of Parliament for the ND for a number of years, succumbed to the common human fate, and the sad news of his untimely death causes feelings of sadness, especially in the continental world.
Hailing from a small village in Pogonios, Repetisti, he became a lawyer in Athens, distinguished from an early age professionally, while at the same time leading the way in highlighting and promoting issues of his particular homeland through the institutions of the Continental Emigration.
He was honored with the office of Minister of the Aegean in the governments of wider acceptance Griva and Zolotas, to be honored by the people of Ioannina, repeatedly elected Member of Parliament for the ND, a faction which he served strongly and selflessly.
He honored with the above the popular mandate promoting important issues of the Prefecture of Ioannina, directly related to its main economic development, while he always stood by the Hellenism of Northern Epirus.
His recent award in Ioannina, at the Panhellenic Congress of the Association of Criminologists and Fighting Lawyers, came as a fair recognition of a very successful legal course of many decades and as the culmination of many other awards from scientific and expatriate bodies.
“As President of the Hellenic Parliament, which Antonis Fousas successfully and faithfully served, I mourn his family and relatives with feelings of sadness.”
