An alarm broke out at France and specifically in the southeast of the country, as well fire manifested itself in nuclear facilities managed by Framatome and contain uranium.
Thus, the French nuclear safety authority (ASN) announced that it had activated its emergency center. The fire is now under control, ASN reported.
A Framatome spokesman confirmed to Reuters that the fire was under control and that no employees were injured. He added that efforts are continuing to rule out any risk to the security of the facilities.
Framatome is owned by the French nuclear power giant EDF. According to the company’s website, at the facility located in the Romain-sur-Isère region (where the fire occurred), fuel for nuclear reactors is produced based on enriched uranium.
