France marks the sixth anniversary of the terrorist attacks in Paris

France marked the sixth anniversary of the night in Paris, when Islamic State militants killed 130 people in coordinated attacks on a concert hall, bars, restaurants and a football stadium.

Prime Minister Jean Castex and other officials remained silent to remind victims of the attacks on the Stade de France stadium, bars, restaurants and the Bataclan concert hall on 13 November 2015.

Twenty men went to trial in September in connection with France’s deadliest peacetime attack.

Salah Abdeslam, a 32-year-old Franco-Moroccan man, is considered the only survivor of the group suspected of carrying out the attacks after other members blew themselves up or were killed by police during the attack.

The other 19 suspects at the trial are accused of helping to provide weapons and cars or playing a role in organizing what has been called “September 11 in France”.

Most of the accused can be sentenced to life imprisonment.
