French interest in the ‘Water 2.0’ program

GGEPY Mr. Dimitris Papagiannidis, met at the offices of the GENERAL SECRETARIAT OF UNION RESOURCES & INFRASTRUCTURE with the Counselor for Agricultural Affairs of the French Embassy in Italy Mr. Jean-Pascal Service with Ms. EFY GGEPY executives also participated in the meeting.

In the technical meeting that followed on issues of the GENERAL SECRETARIAT OF UNION RESOURCES AND INFRASTRUCTURE, the course was discussed:

– implementation of the Rural Development Program,
– forthcoming notices,
transnational cooperation, and
– Our Planning of GGEPY for the next Programming Period 2023-2027.

The lively interest of the French Embassy in the “YDOR 2.0” Program, which is the largest irrigation project since the 1960s, has been transferred, which includes 21 irrigation projects to be constructed through Public & Private Partnerships (PPPs).

French construction and design companies as well as French Banks are interested in assisting in the implementation of “YDOR 2.0”.

The Program with a total cost of 1.628 billion euros, which will exceed 4 billion euros if the costs of maintenance and operation for 25 years and availability payments are included, was presented by the Minister of Rural Development & Food Mr. Spilios Libanos and the GGEPY Mr. Dim. Papagiannidis, in a special event on 8/11/2021, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
