Jesse Powell: “no company will have a monopoly on the metaverse”

The CEO of cryptocurrency exchange Kraken Jesse Powell suggested that in the future, many platforms will be separate metauniverses, and NFTs will “capture” the public consciousness.

This was announced by Jesse Powell at the Crypto Goes Mainstream event, Decrypt reports. Powell believes that the social network Facebook and gaming platforms like Axie Infinity, which use collectible tokens, can be viewed as separate metaverse (social virtual reality). Therefore, no company will have a monopoly in this area, Powell said.

“The metaverse will be fragmented. Each platform will have a specific role in this sector, however they will share resources. Users will be able to move in-game items between platforms in the gaming metaverse, and in the long term, the same will happen with Facebook with other private platforms, ”said the CEO of Kraken.

Kraken plans to unveil an NFT platform early next year. The Kraken CEO added that he previously managed e-commerce platforms and worked with an art gallery, so he already has some NFT experience. Powell was very surprised by the hype that non-fungible tokens have generated this year.

“NFTs have captured the public consciousness, this is due to the change of generations. Young people under 20 are very familiar with digital values. They know what virtual clothing and gear for a virtual avatar is. Soon all cryptocurrency platforms will be competing for this audience that is interested in NFT, ”Powell said.

Recently, the CEO of video game developer Electronic Arts, Andrew Wilson, expressed the same idea. He is confident that non-fungible tokens will become an integral part of the gaming industry.
