From a loader to a locksmith: UAZ tested the Exorise exoskeleton in production

Some time ago, there was news that the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant plans to equip its employees with exoskeletons to perform certain tasks, and now this has become a reality – at the UAZ enterprise, according to the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper, they successfully tested the development of the Exorise company. We are talking about two models (X-Soft for men and X-Soft Lady for women), which significantly reduce the load on the groups of the musculoskeletal system of the employee, as well as enhance his movements in the process of work – this not only increases the employee’s efficiency, but also greatly reduces the likelihood of injury when performing heavy work.

So far, the plant decided to test the possibility of an exoskeleton on a loader and a locksmith – the first transported rather heavy components in manual mode, which were then stored in the appropriate room, and the second performed work on assembling and installing wheels. And in these scenarios, the Exorise exoskeleton showed its best side – the system makes it faster and easier for an employee to carry heavy loads, hold hands with tools in the air, or perform certain manipulations in each of the workshops. And the workers of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant themselves liked the innovation too.

“The sensations when working with the exoskeleton are unusual – you need to get used to the model, but this technology definitely has advantages,” – comments from UAZ employees.

However, so far the plant’s management is not talking about the full-fledged implementation of exoskeletons in production – now the upgrade of employees is only considered as a future prospect. Earlier, it is worth recalling that AvtoVAZ also tested the work using an exoskeleton – it reduced the workload on the employee and increased the speed of performing some tasks, but so far this technology has not been fully implemented either.
