From “Logan” to “Deadpool”: see in what order to watch the Wolverine movies

Marked by claws on his hand, enhanced physical capabilities and a powerful regenerative ability, the superhero Wolverine has won over fans of Marvel stories over the years. The character has been portrayed several times in the movies, being featured in many films since the early 2000s.

Wolverine was played by the actor Hugh Jackman in the “X-Men” films, the character’s early days, to the productions released more than a decade later, such as “Logan” and, more recently, “Deadpool & Wolverine” .

In total, Hugh Jackman has played Wolverine in 10 Marvel films. There were six with the X-Men, three solo films of the character and one with Deadpool. With several works, which do not always have concordance between the order of release and the temporal order of the events, it can become complex to follow the entire story in which the character is involved.

Thinking about it, the CNN listed the films both in order of release and in chronological order of events. Check it out!

Chronological order of the films with Wolverine

1. “X-Men: First Class” (2011)

The film begins in 1944, in the Auschwitz concentration camp. The story unfolds throughout 1962, to show the origins of the group of mutants and of Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr, who would become Professor Xavier and Magneto.

2. “X-Men: Days of Future Past” (2014)

The film has two timelines: the first is set in 1973, and the other is set in an alternate dystopian version of 2023, in which mutants live incarcerated. Wolverine is sent to the past to try to prevent an event and change the future.

3. “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” (2009)

The film begins in the late 19th century, but the main story takes place in 1979, and aims to show how Wolverine got his adamantium claws. It is also in this film that we are introduced, for the first time, to Wade Wilson, who would later become Deadpool.

4. “X-Men: Apocalypse” (2016)

Most of the film’s story takes place in 1983, when the X-Men must face a mutant enemy called Apocalypse, who intends to destroy the world and humanity.

5. “X-Men: The Movie” (2000)

The first film in the franchise was not only released in 2000, but it is also set in the same period. The film features both the X-Men and the Brotherhood of Mutants.

6. “X-Men 2” (2003)

The film is also set in the same period in which it was released, in 2003. In the story, the X-Men are forced to join forces with their mutant enemies to avoid being exterminated by the United States government.

7. “X-Men: The Last Stand” (2006)

The last film in the original trilogy also takes place in its release year, 2006. The government finds a “cure” for mutations and leaves the mutants in a difficult situation as they are forced to choose sides.

8. “Immortal Wolverine” (2013)

The film is set in 2013 and shows Wolverine dealing with the loss of Jean Grey.

9. “Logan” (2017)

The Wolverine-focused film is set in the future, in 2029, a time when mutants are almost extinct. Logan is now older, but decides to help a young mutant child deal with her powers.

10. “Deadpool & Wolverine” (2024)

Apparently, “Deadpool & Wolverine” takes place in the year 2024. In the film, mention is made of Wolverine’s death in “Logan”, which, in this case, only happens in 2029. This may happen because the film presents in its context a device from Time Variance Authority, which allows the character Deadpool to access other realities, from different times.

The film features Wolverine from another reality being recruited by Deadpool to help him save “his world.” It is still unclear whether the character will continue to be explored in other future Marvel films, and whether he will still be played by Hugh Jackman.

Where to watch the movies with Wolverine?
