After 12 years on the run, a man sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping a vulnerable person was arrested last Friday (29) in a dense forest area in Goiás. He was found on top of an improvised structure high up in a tree .
According to the Civil Police, the accused was armed with a machete when he was located.

According to the police, upon noticing the presence of the agents, the man tried to resist, but ended up being detained. During the move to the Silvânia Prison Unit, he confessed that he planned to escape to the Federal District later that night.
The crime for which he was convicted occurred in 2012, when the man raped his stepdaughter, who was 13 at the time. Since then, he has been wanted by the police, totaling 12 years on the run.
The arrest was an intelligence action by the Civil Police in a joint operation with the Military Police.
