The fight against deforestation in agricultural production in South America is gaining strength. The Land Innovation Fund, a fund created in 2019 with a contribution from Cargill, has just opened the third round of support for initiatives that fight deforestation in agriculture.
This time, the focus is on soybean projects and other commodities in the grain chain, such as livestock. The announcement was made at the beginning of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change, COP27, held in Egypt.
Carlos Quintela, director of the Land Innovation Fund, spoke to CNN About the project. “There are 28 projects carried out by 34 partners and with the participation of more than 1 thousand rural producers”, he explained.
“We have just published our third call for proposals to support projects between US$500,000 and US$2 million in three different biomes – Amazon, Cerrado and Gran Chaco – in four countries: Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Bolivia.”
