G. Gerapetritis: The Tsipras report that I lied is an insult to me

I never mentioned to the Institutions and Transparency Committee, any of what Mr. Tsipras mentioned as “lies”, said Minister of State Giorgos Gerapetritis, taking the floor “personally” immediately after the speech of the official opposition leader, Alexis Tsipras.

“I declare directly, on behalf of the members of the coalition and the opposition, who were in the Committee on Institutions and Transparency, that I, never mentioned anything of what you said […] I didn’t say a word about them. You can see it in the minutes,” said Mr Gerapetritis.

In fact, addressing the SYRIZA MP and member of the same committee, George Katrougalos, he said: Please, now, George, report to your leader if I said any of the things he mentioned as lies.”

Mr. Gerapetritis begged Mr. Tsipras to retract by the end of the meeting that (he) lied 3 times, knowing in fact to the leader of SYRIZA-PS that “I intend to exercise all the rights I have from the insult you did”.

He even added that he will exercise his relative rights “because in that extremely hostile speech you made a little while ago, you also said something correct: That no one is above the Constitution and the laws.”

Referring to the intervention of Mr. Gerapetritis, Mr. Tsipras said that “Mr. Mitsotakis needed a lifeline. He cannot do it alone. Mr. Gerapetritis took on the role…”.

On the subject of the intervention, Mr. Tsipras asked the Minister of State if, in the Institutions and Transparency Committee, “were you aware or not, to impugned questions – you personally did not answer – Mr. Kontoleon was answering by lying?”

Did you know or not? Why didn’t you answer?” The critical question, which concerns Mr. Mitsotakis, you and (Minister of Digital Governance) Mr. Pierrakakis, who accompanied the dismissed EYP commander that day, who lied to repeated questions, and you did not hurry clarify what exactly is happening. If you knew what was happening, you and Mr. Pierrakakis are both participants and accomplices in the crime,” said Mr. Tsipras.

Finally, the leader of the official opposition told Mr,. Gerapetritis don’t point the finger at lawsuits. we’re talking primarily politics here, neither lawsuits nor lawsuits [..] and added: There are notable academics, you are one of them, who enter politics and adorn it. There are also marches (of academics), who, entering politics, lose their credibility”.

Intervention by K. Tasoula

The intervention of the president of the Parliament is also noted, on the occasion of the photos that came to light, which came from the plenary hall: “It is not permissible for members of the parliament to photograph the events or other colleagues,” said Mr. Tasoulas.
