British Prime Minister candidate Liz Truss will make sure people get the support they need to get through tough times, a spokesman for her campaign staff said today, following the announcement by UK regulator Ofgem. for an 80% increase in the ceiling on energy prices in the country from October.
“Today’s announcement will cause serious concern to many people in the UK who will be worried about paying their bills.
As Prime Minister, Liz will ensure that people get the support they need to get through these difficult times,” the spokesperson noted.
Truss, who is the favorite in the race for prime minister, has previously said she does not believe handouts are the best way to help households cope with the pressures of rising living costs and prefers to focus on tax cuts.
The result of the contest between Liz Truss and former Finance Minister Rishi Sunak for the British Prime Ministership is expected on September 5.
