G. Papandreou: ‘Let’s bring our party back to where it deserves’

“In Lamia, another link is being created in the chain that keeps us united under a common goal: to make our party again a protagonist of developments, a force of responsibility with a credible, visionary and realistic progressive proposal of governance towards the conservative. This chain “This bond that historically unites us, endured, did not break.” This was emphasized, among others, by Lamia, the former prime minister and candidate for the leadership of KINAL, George Papandreou, who during his tour in Central Greece had previously visited Thebes and Livadia.

As the faction said, it stood up “despite the tireless efforts of the political opponents to dismantle it, to manipulate it” and this is largely due “to Fofi Gennimata, who left behind an important legacy: A faction alive and ready to do the next step”.

“It is a moving course for all and new friends,” he said, adding, “We are here to build the great democratic faction with a majority force, so that we can express the dreams and hopes of the Greek people.” “In recent weeks,” he said in another part of his speech, “the Movement for Change is on the lips of the world and not just out of curiosity. It is out of hope. We want a big Movement for Change to overthrow the political scene in Greece.”

“Will we make the great historical leap to bring our faction back to where it deserves? Or will we retreat wasting time not only at the expense of our faction, but also of the country? Because it is imperative to end the cachectic and myopic bipartisanship “SYRIZA, which has been oppressing our country since 2012. As long as this dipole remains, the country, trapped in the forces of conservation and fixation, suffers as much,” he added.

The radical change of the country remains an incomplete stake, said Mr. Papandreou, emphasizing that “we have a duty to bring a strong message of hope to the Greek people.”

Finally, it is worth noting that there was a minute of silence for Fofi Gennimata, while during the speech of George Papandreou were present several PASOK executives, including mayors, municipal and regional councilors and former MPs Katerina Batzeli and Nikos Tsonis.
