Returning from Bali, where she participated in the G20, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni discovered that, in the days in which she represented the country in discussions with leaders from all over the world, many Italians discussed, on social media, whether it was “right” or not that, was her daughter with her Geneva, aged 6.
The annoyed premier responded to the criticisms with a harsh message on Facebook: “As I return home from two days of incessant work to best represent Italy at the G20 in Bali, I come across an incredible debate on whether it was right or not to take my daughter with me while I go away for four days,” she wrote. “The question I have for the leaders of this exciting discussion is: so you think that how my daughter should raise is a matter that concerns you? Because I give you news: she is not. I have the right to be a mother as I please and I have the right to do all I can for this nation without depriving Geneva of a mother». And again: «I hope that this answer is enough to make you deal with more relevant matters and vaguely within your competence».
Giorgia Meloni, together with her partner Andrea Giambruno, is determined to protect the child from excessive attention from the media (and, in this regard, she has also instructed the lawyer to send a warning to the newspapers). The parents agree in wanting to ensure their daughter a “normal” life despite the crucial political role of the mother. «The priority for us is to protect her, to make her grow in the most natural way possible» explained Giambruno. «We want our daughter to grow up in serenity, distant from realities that would mark her distance with her peers. She then the more she goes on with the years and the more she will realize that she has a super mom, but also a story not suited to a girl of her age. Now Ginevra is serene and what matters most, for Giorgia and me, is to preserve her serenity ».
