Gabriela Medeiros on playing Buba in “Renascer”: “I woke up crying”

The actress Gabriela Medeiros 23, known for giving life to Buba in the remake of “Reborn” from TV Globo, shared the lessons learned during the recording of the work.

Guest on Conversa com Bial last Wednesday (4), the artist, who like the character, is also a transgender woman, said that, before the soap opera, she didn’t know how to deal with affection.

“I didn’t know what a hug was. I learned what a hug was in preparation. When Rodrigo [Simas] hugged me, I pulled back, and then he said: ‘Hey, is everything okay?’” he recalled.

Gabriela also said that the process was liberating. “It has been really intense to be going through all this, even though I have very little time to transition. And then, out of nowhere, a 9pm soap opera, an exhibition, showing yourself, you have to be here in full… It was something that made me think, ‘Wow!’”, he added.

Experiences similar to Buba’s

Also on the show, the actress highlighted the similar experiences with those played by Buba. “A character with a trans experience, which is also my experience. So, bringing this body is also my body,” she said.

“When I say that I became a symbiosis, it’s because there was a moment when I no longer knew who I was, and who Buba was. I would wake up in the middle of the night crying, thinking about the text for the next day, it had become so internalized within me,” she revealed.
