Garbage collector rescues books that people discarded and creates a library

Jonatã Nunes worked in the collection service of his city, where he rescued the books he found from the rubbish, cleaned, read and jealously kept them. With the passage of time, his literary collection was so large that he created his own library.

Then she invited her neighbors and local children to meet her. At that moment, he woke up his yearning for writing his own book and although it was not easy, he achieved his goal by publishing a book of poems, becoming a celebrity of letters.

Created a library out of nothing

Jonatã has always been a fan of literature and although he can read on any subject without problem, he prefers poetry. This love of letters led him to collect books that other people discarded.

When he had enough, he set up a small but colorful and varied library in his home, which is located on the outskirts of Porto Alegre, in Brazil. He invited friends, neighbors, family and children to the improvised inauguration, as his intention was not to show off, but to encourage reading.

But having a library was just the beginning of a great dream, as Jonatã took his love of letters to the next level and wrote a compendium of poems inspired by love and loneliness in times of pandemic.

He is now a renowned poet

Jonatã had to work overtime at a second job to raise enough money and print the first 100 copies of his collection of poems, which he titled Asphalt poet: Time is a priority.

Time is a priority and we are as irresponsible as so many plans that we have thrown in a closet leaving them to be solved later. How many dreams have we left in a lonely drawer, leaving them to come true later.

– Jonatã, author of ‘Asphalt Poet: Time is a priority’

Currently, his book is sold at the Canoas Book Fair and is a success. On the other hand, Jonatã invites other young people to fight for their dreams, not to give up on the road and to reach the goal with their heads held high, not to show others that they are superior, but to show themselves that All dreams come true.
