Their IDC peers give a 3.9% rating. Gartner analysts were even more restrained. They estimate PC shipments were up just 1% year over year. Interestingly, the absolute value characterizing the volume of deliveries, Gartner gives the same as Canalys – 84.1 million units, while IDC counted 86.7 million units.

At the same time, demand in the corporate segment was high due to the beginning of economic recovery in key regions and the return of employees to offices. In the corporate segment, analysts say desktop PC shipments have been growing steadily, while laptop shipments have been hampered by component shortages.
