Gas allowance will start to be paid in cities hit by rain

Next Monday (27), the federal government will begin to pay the gas allowance for families in 100 municipalities hit by heavy rains this month. The expectation is that the benefit will be passed on to more than 108,000 families across the country.

They will have the right to transfer people from cities in the states of Bahia and Minas Gerais that decreed a calamity due to the impacts of the storms that hit the municipalities in recent weeks.

The aid is worth R$52, about 50% of the value of a 13-kilogram cylinder. Families from the Cadastro Único (CadÚnico) with income per capital of up to one minimum wage will be covered.

Families with lower income and with more family members will be prioritized. Eligible people will be informed through the Auxílio Brasil and Caixa Tem program applications. The resource will be transferred to each individual’s account in the social program.

To find out if your municipality qualifies for the transfer, check the list published in the Official State Gazette and available in the site of the Ministry of Citizenship.

The gas allowance was approved in October and sanctioned in November. The target audience involves around 5.5 million families. The other people who are not in the cities in a state of calamity due to the rains will start receiving the benefit on January 18th.

The benefit was created due to the difficulty of purchasing gas cylinders by low-income families in view of the significant increase in the price of this input. A bill of law was approved in December to open a credit of R$300 million for the payment of aid.
