Gas stations in Porto Alegre register lack of gasoline

Who needed to fill up the tank of the vehicle, this Tuesday (1st), in Porto Alegre, capital of Rio Grande do Sul, came across one of two scenes: queues at gas stations and prices up to R$0.20 more expensive than than the day before, or establishments without gasoline.

In the early afternoon, the team from CNN Brazil traveled through the southern part of the capital of Rio Grande do Sul and found only two stations that still had fuel. The other eight were already with empty stocks.

According to the president of the Union of Retail Trade of Fuels and Lubricants in Rio Grande do Sul (Sulpetro), João Carlos Dal’Aqua, establishments were surprised by the high demand in search of gasoline and diesel since Monday (31) .

“The stations in general have low stocks. This caused a difficulty because in logistics, when an order is placed with the distributor, it is usually overnight”, he explains.

The biggest movement to fuel cars and other private vehicles was motivated by the protests and blockades of truck drivers on highways and refineries.

“There is also the difficulty of distributors in transiting with the loads. But [acredito que] with the release of the roads and refineries, this mismatch should still be normalized today”, comments Dal´Aqua. Sulpetro does not have a survey of how many locations were affected.
