Gazprom reduced gas shipments to the EU by 22% in the first ten months of 2021

Gas shipments from Russia to the EU for the first ten months of 2021 fell by 22% compared to the same period last year, to 35.3 billion cubic meters, according to data published on the website of the company “GTS Operator of Ukraine “, according to the Russian news agency Ria Novosti.

“Gas transportation through Ukraine in the first 10 months of 2021 amounted to 35.3 billion cubic meters and the average daily transport volume was 115.9 million cubic meters,” the statement said. Gas transportation to the EU for the same period in 2020 amounted to about 45 billion cubic meters.

According to the data, for the ten months of 2021, the transport of natural gas in Slovakia amounted to 22.43 billion cubic meters, in Hungary to 6.8 billion cubic meters, in Poland to 3.23 billion cubic meters, in Moldova at 2.4 billion cubic meters and Romania – at 0.4 billion cubic meters.

Earlier in November, GTS Operator of Ukraine revealed that gas volume for October was 2.6 billion cubic meters, down 19% from September. Meanwhile, the head of GTS Operator of Ukraine, Sergei Makogona, expressed concern that as of October 1, volumes were lower than Gazprom’s commitments.
