Several Chinese news outlets, citing their sources, said that the Chinese car brand Geely plans to enter the high-end electric pickup market – this will be implemented under the brand of a subsidiary of Radar. Moreover, the manufacturer will not delay the announcement of a new vehicle, since information about the new brand and future direction will appear on May 13 – Chinese publications also report this. On the same day, the company should also officially show its first prototype of an electric pickup truck, which will compete with well-known names in the market in the future.
Unfortunately, there are no details regarding the new vehicle yet – insiders only report that Geely is targeting the high-end electric pickup segment, where the company wants to compete with cars like Rivian models. Considering that this American brand produces (or rather tries to produce) exceptionally powerful and premium pickups, you can expect something no less productive and expensive from Geely. However, even at a high cost, there will be practically no one to compete with the Chinese manufacturer, since there are not so many electric pickups on the market.
Of course, for Geely as a whole, the pickup market is practically unknown, not to mention the electric segment, but this should not be a problem – the holding’s engineers have previously stated that their SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) aluminum platform is suitable for scaling for any task. Accordingly, the developers just had to “mount” an electric power plant based on an already created platform into the body of the gasoline Farizon Remote FX (the only pickup truck of the company). And if the Chinese brand manages to establish the production of an electric pickup truck, then it will easily outperform its competitors – the same Rivian so far produces its luxury cars in too small batches and with great difficulty.
