Gender equality: “Feminists” is born, the training school for male political leaders

A political formation to promote gender equality: «Feminists! – Laboratory for another kind of politics », a real one school for male political leaders. The initiative is promoted by + Europa with 2 × 1000 funds and is also participated by Pd, Action, Verdi, Italia Viva, M5S and Lista Sala. They are on schedule 15 hours of training: the workshops range from the gender impact assessment of public policies, a methodology required by the European Commission itself for the Recovery Fund spending programs, to the application of the quota policy.

And they also address the question of how the media cover women’s election campaigns.

“We realized that it is not women who need specific training to be involved in politics. There are exclusionary practices and public policies that make it difficult to achieve equality, especially in politics, ”explained Costanza Hermanin, fellow of the European University Institute and founder of the school. “These elements must be brought to the attention of politicians, so that they become aware of them and support women in the battle for equality in politics, on which Italy suffers a greater “gap” than in any other sector».

During the workshops, a note from the school wrote, «we will make available the most recent data on the economic and social effects that derive from a more inclusive policy in terms of representation. We will analyze the sphere of public communication to understand some exclusionary dynamics and neutralize them ». And again: «During the seminar we also intend to use the personal experiences of the participants and role-playing games to reflect on canonical models of political practice, dealing with gender norms and informal attitudes that hinder inclusive leadership ».

In lecture of 9 July, after the speeches of the Minister for Equal Opportunities and the Family, Elena Bonetti and other personalities involved in the sector of equal opportunities, 10 awards for gender equality will also be awarded. Among the winners, the director of the Giornale Radio Rai and Radio1 Rai Simona Sala for the campaign “No Women No Panel – No women don’t talk about it”. Then Senator Emma Bonino will answer Carlo Pastore’s questions.
