“The Seed of the Sacred Fruit ”, one of the finalists of Phase 2 of the Oscar in the dispute for Best International Film and rival to “I’m Still Here”, received an exhibition date in São Paulo. The production that represents Germany at the awards will be shown at the Cinesesc starting this Thursday (16).
According to the institution’s websitethe sessions are scheduled until the day January 22 . Tickets can be purchased in advance on the Sesc platform, where they are already on sale.
In the film, Iman (Missagh Zareh ), recently promoted to investigating judge, faces paranoia and mental exhaustion amid the political unrest in Tehran, caused by the death of a young woman. When his gun disappears, he begins to suspect his wife and daughters, adopting harsh measures that end up fraying family ties.
The feature film is Mohammad Rasoulof an Iranian filmmaker who, due to the content and nature of his films, came into conflict with the Iranian government and was arrested several times.
In May 2024, following the announcement that “The Seed of the Holy Fruit” had been selected for the main competition at the Cannes Film Festival, he was sentenced by the Islamic regime to eight years in prison and flogging. After the sentence, he fled to Germany and was able to participate in the event.
In Brazil, the film made its debut at the Rio 2024 Festival.
