A 31-year-old woman and a 2-year-old infant lost their lives when a fire broke out in a reception center for asylum seekers in the central Germany yesterday afternoon, the police informed.
A 34-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital with severe burns. according to the Oberfranken police directorate.
Its causes fire in the center, in the city of Kronach, are still unknown. A criminal investigation is underway.
According to the first data of the investigation, as broadcast by AMPE, the fire in an apartment in the center broke out early yesterday afternoon while several asylum seekers were inside.
Due to the damage caused by the fire, asylum seekers were unable to return to the apartments and another roof was temporarily found, according to local officials.
