German orders in the manufacturing sector fell in February, mainly due to falling orders from abroad.
Manufacturing orders fell 2.2% month-on-month in February on adjusted terms, following a revised 2.3% increase in January, according to Destatis.
Economists expected orders to fall by 0.5%.
Capital goods orders fell 2.8%. Manufacturers of intermediate goods saw their new orders in February fall 1.9% a month ago.
Regarding consumer goods, orders increased by 0.7%.
Overseas orders fell 3.3% in February from the previous month.
New orders from the eurozone fell 3.3% and new orders from other countries fell 3.4%.
Domestic orders fell 0.2% compared to the previous month.
