Growth in Germany will be around 2.7% for the current year, the Committee of Wise Men estimates, revising their previous forecast for growth of 3.1%.
According to the financial newspaper Handelsblatt, the reasons for the revision are probably the problems in the deliveries of goods, but also the explosion in energy prices. Growth, however, is expected to offset next year, which the “Wise Men”, who advise the German government, estimate will reach 4.6%. As for inflation, they expect an increase of 3.1% for this year and a gradual normalization later, starting from 2.6% for 2022.
The Committee of Economic Experts is expected to present its Report tomorrow and, according to reports in the German media, its estimates will pose a problem for the public investment program.
