Gislein Maxwell denies new allegations of child trafficking

THE Gislein Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein’s former colleague, who committed suicide in prison, pleaded not guilty to new charges against her in late March for child trafficking.

It was the first time that 59-year-old Maxwell appeared before a federal court in Manhattan, after her arrest, in July 2020. The hearing lasted only 10 minutes and the British heiress spoke almost nothing, answering only succinctly two questions of the judge.

The new charge concerns a fourth victim Jeffrey Epstein, which is not named like the previous three. The woman was reportedly recruited by Maxwell and Epstein in 2001 when she was 14 years old. Then, for the next three years, he helped her recruit other young girls to the stockbroker’s network.

According to prosecutors, Maxwell recruited teenage girls for her ex-boyfriend in many cities around the world, initially inviting them to go to the movies or go shopping. She was arrested in New Hampshire last year and is being held in Brooklyn Federal Prison pending her trial. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.

The date of her trial has not yet been confirmed. Initially, it was supposed to start on July 12, but after new charges were announced, her lawyers asked for a postponement. Judge Allison Nathan said today that she would make a decision very soon, urging both sides to prepare in time.

Maxwell will be tried separately for two counts of false testimony in the authorities, in a defamation lawsuit filed against her by Virginia Geoffrey, one of the women who had accused Epstein.
