Goldman Sachs has raised $9.7 billion for a private equity fund, the biggest since 2007, to invest in companies valued in the range of $750 million to $2 billion, the bank said on Tuesday. .
The fund is under the asset management arm and is known as “West Street Capital Partners VIII”. He is expected to invest an average of $300 million to take over companies in financial and business services, as well as in health, consumer, technology and the transition to climate change.
The firm’s private credit & equity platform has $40 billion in assets under management, including $25 billion in funds, secondary and co-investments.
Investors include pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, financial institutions, family offices and high net worth individuals.
The fund has already invested in Norgine, a European pharmaceutical company; Nippo, a road paving company in Japan; and Parexel, a clinical research organization.
