Google will soon begin distributing the stable version of Chrome 89. The update brings quite a few improvements and changes, including reimagined profiles with color themes and easy switching.

Users can now easily switch between different profiles in Chrome. Each user can create their own color theme.

As a result, it is immediately clear in the browser which of the profiles is being used. In addition to sharing the browser on a laptop or desktop computer with multiple users, it can also be useful for separating work and personal space, with different bookmarks and browsing history.

Also in Chrome 89 there is a Reading list, accessible by clicking on the star icon in the address bar.

The function is much simpler and more convenient than a full-fledged bookmark manager, when you just need to put off an interesting article for reading in the evening. It is familiar to users of other browsers – similar capabilities are available in Microsoft Edge and Safari.

Another innovation is the search for tabs. By clicking the icon with an arrow in the upper right corner, a list of open pages in all windows drops out. Only five tabs are displayed at a time. Above is a search field where you can start typing the name of the site and quickly find the desired tab. You can also quickly close unnecessary tabs in the list.

These are just the most notable innovations. There are also other changes, improvements and fixes. Distribution will begin in the coming weeks.
