Google may alert you if searches show personal data; understand

Google brought to Brazil the “Privacy in results about you” a tool launched in 2022, created to monitor whether your personal information is displayed on the technology company’s search engine.

In it, the user has the possibility to register data such as address , phones , emails and, in the future, document numbers . After filling out the form, Google will inform you if any of them appear in the search tool.

Given this possibility, the resource also offers a space for you to request the removal of published information. Although it cannot delete personal data from websites, the tool limits access, hiding it from searches.

Check out how to activate Google’s alert for monitoring your personal data:

  1. Access the tool through the link or by clicking on your photo in the Google app and selecting “Privacy in results about you”;
  2. Click “Start now” and confirm that you want to proceed;
  3. Enter your details, such as name, address, telephone number, email, and click “Continue”;
  4. Select between email or app notification to receive an alert if the information appears in the search;
  5. Click “Save” and then “I’m done”.
