Government hires 529 professionals for program that will replace Mais Médicos

The federal government of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) made official this Monday (18) the hiring of the first Doctors professionals in Brazil, which was announced in 2019 and will replace Mais Médicos – which was launched by former President Dilma Rousseff (PT). ). The initiative aims to expand the service provided by the Unified Health System (SUS) in the most vulnerable municipalities.

In a ceremony at the Planalto Palace, the national secretary of Primary Health Care, Raphael Câmara, announced that the first 529 approved have already been summoned and that they must present the necessary documentation. It is necessary to have registration in the CRM (Federal Council of Medicine). According to the ministry, until the end of April, another 1,400 approved candidates will be summoned.

In a speech during the ceremony, the Minister of Health, Marcelo Queiroga, stated that “the great revolution and the great transformation in the health system will be carried out in primary health care”.

Understand what changes with the transition

According to the folder, one of the main differences between the two programs is in the structuring. While Mais Médicos was a joint action between the Ministries of Health and Education, Doctors for Brazil is an initiative solely of Health.

Doctors for Brazil was launched in 2019 with the aim of structuring the federal medical career for places with difficult provision and high vulnerability. Mais Médicos, on the other hand, aimed to serve regions of the country with low medical coverage. The program made it possible to hire foreign doctors without revalidation of the diploma

Now, however, according to Bolsonaro’s government, Min Brazil provides for authorization to work only after passing the Revalida exam, which validates the diploma obtained in another country.

Another point of the new program is that the selected doctor, after specializing in family and community medicine, is hired by the CLT (Consolidation of Labor Laws) with additional benefits for working in more distant areas, a career plan and remuneration of up to BRL 24 thousand.

Doctors across Brazil

The first notice of the Doctors for Brazil program was published on the last day of 2021 and had 16,357 doctors enrolled, according to the ministry. Of the candidates who attended the tests, 8,518 were approved for the 4,652 vacancies initially available.

The program covers 1,911 municipalities and 26 Indigenous Health Districts that are part of 114 health macro-regions in the North, Northeast, Midwest, South and Southeast regions.

To fill the other vacancies, the folder informs that those summoned will be called throughout the year 2022, considering the availability of vacancies indicated by municipal health managers and the Ministry of Health.
